Registering Domains
It isn't widely appreciated that domain registration is a competitive industry and many prices are available. The cost may appear trivial but if your site is successful then this charge will have to be met for many yeas tocome.
It's easy to do and shows the world you are serious. Emails from (for example) Gmail or Hotmail as a main email account doesn't look very businesslike and websites hosted at free hosting sites don't command a lot of respect. At godaddy.com you can register domains with most extensions (.com .info etc) securely and inexpensively.
We have found GoDaddy.com to be reliable and among the very least expensive for .com and .org domain names. They also have the less favoured domains such as .tv, .biz, .name etc.
Country specific domains are usually best located from a registrar resident in that country. In New Zealand, Hosting Direct offer extremely competitive pricing.
If you are looking for a .co.nz extension or are a New Zealander wanting a local registrar (and web hosting if you want it) then hostingdirect.co.nz is far cheaper.
Don't take (expensive) 'candy' from strangers! Beware unsolicited domain renewal offers from Registrars you've never seen before.
